What is the most important attribute of a business leader?
Having the ability to clearly articulate a vision of where the organisation is heading and being able to mobilise and inspire the organisation to deliver it.
What is your guiding principle?
Remember that no matter where you are in an organisation you are one part of a business and everyone has their role and contribution to make in ensuring that it’s a success. And of course remember that the customer is king !
If you hadn’t gone into the business you are in, what might you have done instead?
That’s a difficult question! I would have probably liked to have been involved in a start up business that you could nurture and grow to be a successful multinational business…guess it’s never too late to start…
What advice would you give your children in business?
I would say, do something you are passionate about that you enjoy, move around within and between organisations to get a good grounding in transferable skills, don’t be afraid to take a chance and make the odd mistake now and then, listen and learn and treat everyone with the respect that you would expect yourself. Assuming my children would listen of course!
What do your employees say about you?
Of course you should ask them, but I think the majority would say that I am approachable, hard working, passionate and down to earth, with a clear vision of what we are trying to achieve as a team.
