What is the most important attribute of a business leader?
I believe it is crucial to inspire others to follow, by; being fair, listening, mentoring, delegating, empowering and trusting your team
What is your guiding principle?
I follow the African proverb “If you want to walk fast, walk alone. If you want to go far, walk together”.
Team work and collaboration of staff are key to the success of any business.
If you hadn’t gone into business, what might you have done instead?
I would have liked to have studied architecture; a profession in which you can see your creative concepts on paper transform into spectacular buildings based on the law of physics, must be extremely rewarding.
What advice would you give your children in business?
I would tell them not to worry about the journey of learning, make as many small mistakes as you can while you learn, so once you arrive you don’t make that one big mistake. You need to learn from these small mistakes to truly develop professionally.
What do your employees say about you?
I would like to think that my employees would say that I support an empowered way of working, allowing them to develop their own skills sets giving them the confidence to add value to their own areas of the business.
